VFS Weekly Update
for the week of 1/8-1/12
This week, we have been exploring VFS Parent Volunteer opportunities during some of our Project Time meetings. Nick, Leo Kuzma’s Dad and Jim, Trevor’s Dad came in to share some offering ideas on Tuesday and Thursday. We’ve also been working on a decoupage project for our quiet room table!
Jessica gave the first tour of our new space to interested families with help from Fiona and Linnea. Tutti was a star as usual, entertaining our visiting guests. Tutti also made an appearance in the Rumpus Room for a game of Tutti Tag this week!
We will be starting our Winter Term Standing Plan this coming Monday. There are many interesting classes and clubs being offered by both staff and students such as Podcasts Club, Philosophy, Chorus Club, Peer Mediation training, Drawing circle, and so many more amazing offerings. Kathy has been working hard to prepare independent math packets before she leaves for her 2-month sabbatical!
Rubik’s cubes are currently a hit at the Free school. Dave, Nathan, Ryan, and Micah’s dad, has brought in his collection of Rubik’s cubes. They range from the 2×2 to 13×13! The kids have been enjoying trying to solve them and Dave has been a great mentor to them! They even took a whole cube apart to look at how it works from inside and learn about its algorithms. How cool!
A lot of people have been getting sick lately. Please keep your children home if they are sick so they don’t spread germs. Wash hands often and drink lots of water!
